I hope you are all enjoying Autumn. This weekend here on Long Island is grey and slightly rainy so a delicious red sangria is just what the doctor ordered. For this week I wanted to make something using both cranberry and apple juices since they are a perfect pairing for the fall.
This recipe is pretty simple, and feel free to use what every type of apple you prefer. I used some beautiful Golden Delicious apples this week because I thought it light yellow/green color would be a nice contrast to the dark red color of the drink. Also feel free to change out the type of liquor if you’d like, I’m sure a spicy cinnamon whiskey or full flavored dark rum would also be just as delicious.
Cran-Apple Red Sangria
3 apples sliced
1 cup fresh cranberries
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
2 cups brandy
1 large bottle red wine (1.75liters)
1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup apple juice.
Slice the apples and assemble the remaining ingredients in the order above.
Stir well and chill.
Serve over ice.
Garnish with apple slices, fresh cranberries and cinnamon sticks.
