So, for those of you who don’t know, SangriaSundaze is a relatively new hobby that I work on (mainly) on Sundays. During the week I have a wonderful job working the front desk of a really awesome hair salon in Williston Park, NY. (Shout out to HAIR JUNKIE). So, when they asked me last week to create a special sangria type punch to serve to all the mothers coming into the salon on Saturday I knew I had to jump at the opportunity… But what do mothers like? What would they want to drink? …and so I came up with this little creation. It’s a very, very simple recipe with really only 5 key ingredients.
We started off with fresh strawberries and fresh lemons, used a little bit of Skinny Girl reduced calorie vodka, some delicious Pink Moscato and topped it all off with strawberry lemonade.
I know what you’re all thinking, “another Rosé sangria?!” But what can I say? It’s springtime, the weather is getting warmer and I don’t know about you, but I could just drink “Rose All Day”.
For this creation the salon provided me with the container to serve the drink in, a large 3 gallon beverage dispenser with a lid and a spout for easy serving. Because of the size of the container and because I wanted it to last all day, I basically doubled my regular recipe to make a very large batch.
First we washed and removed the stems from the strawberries and sliced them in half and placed them in the bottom of the glass container. Then, we sliced 2 lemons and added those along with the juice of another 2 lemons. On top of that we added 2 cups of the Skinny Girl reduced calorie vodka and topped that all with the two large bottles of wine and let it sit for about 2 hours. Right before serving we added the strawberry lemonade.
What I thought would be a good idea for this punch, since it was being served throughout the day, was to start with all of our ingredients chilled (like usual) then chill the whole punch for 2 hours. I also created ice cubes from the same strawberry lemonade that we would be using as our “mixer”. This way as the “ice” melted it wouldn’t water down or alter the taste of the drink. Overall I think this punch was a success and all of the mothers enjoyed it very much!
2 lbs fresh strawberries washed and sliced
2 fresh lemons sliced
2 fresh lemons juiced
2 cups Skinny Girl Vodka
2 1.5 liter bottles Rose wine (we used Pink Moscato)
3 containers Strawberry Lemonade
Wash, de-stem and slice strawberries, wash and slice two lemons, juice 2 additional lemons, top with 2 cups Skinny Girl Vodka, top that with 2 bottles Rosé wine. CHILL. Top whole mixture with strawberry lemonade and strawberry lemonade ice cubes.
Stir, Serve & Enjoy!
